I have so enjoyed sharing with you all my story, some tips that help make a house a home and ideas that you are very capable of doing yourself in your space. I love being able to collaborate with clients as they give me a bit of their story and then touring their house and realizing both their personality and the needed function of their home. Often times, when I first enter, I get many apologies for the laundry still not folded or put away and explanations of why their space is the way it is.
It’s such a vulnerable place for the client and I hope that I always put their hearts at ease. It is never lost on me that when someone welcomes me into their home, they are asking me to help them create something that makes them apologize less, a space they feel comfortable in, a space that better reflects what their mind’s eye can see but their hands just can’t seem to build. It’s a privilege to build what will be a home full of people, memories, laughter and love. I tend to think that in those moments I get to become part of their story. Sometimes coming in for the beginning but most of time entering some time in the middle.
So why do people invite me in? Often times it’s because they have made a large purchase and now they are stuck. If I’m honest, it’s usually a sofa and they don’t know what to do. I would love to suggest that you consider calling me before that big purchase, but I can usually help even if that has already occurred. Although, I love all the beauty of a well curated space I think one of the greatest values Grey and Grace Design offers is the amazing vendors and contractors that help elevate each space with craftmanship that is consistent and stunning.
When clients hire Grey and Grace they gain access to vetted craftsmen. These are companies I have worked with in various homes and projects, and I have come to know their skill set. They are trusted experts in their field, and I know their work. But often what enhances their skills is the partnership we create together as I guide, problem solve, collaborate and ensure quality control as we try to bring the vision I have created with the client to life. I really enjoy watching these guys and gals work. And you should know that they are the same craftsmen that I bring into my own home.
If I ever have the opportunity to come along into your story, I thought it valuable to help you understand the assets and people that I work alongside to make your house a home. All homes are a work in progress. Projects can feel endless, I’d love the chance to get you closer to the finish line, telling you true story through the walls in your home.
