Beginning the week I really love the routine of writing and clearing some things out of my mind. Our home is in a bit of shambles as we work on this new project, converting a closet into a cellar/bar area. I have been slow to pull the trigger on certain decisions that makes the process go even longer, trying to take my time to make sure I am present and enjoying the blessing that it is. And it is a blessing, to transform your home into what you hope and dream it to be, its always a blessing.
This is our first holiday season in this house, truly, and part of me wishes we didn’t have a to-do list happening as we engage in this next few weeks and months. I know all too well that this time is never long enough and if I’m not careful, moments will pass me by and I will forget to soak them in. I want to be content, happy with where we are and I want my eyes wide to take in the views of my children and family and friends.
So let’s keep things simple this year this way we don’t get lost in all the hustle and bustle, as they say. Here are a few little tips as you begin thinking about your holiday decor and all the joy of this holiday season. Make a plan:
- Start by creating a mood board with the feels you hope for in your home (morpholio board is a free app).
- Choose a color palette and theme.
- Take inventory of things you have (this is also a good time to clean out old things you won’t use any longer).
- Take that inspiration you created and make a list of what you need (walk through the rooms as you do).
As a converted list maker, I find them so very helpful to me. They make me feel organized, keep me on track and limit my trips to Target (LOL). I really want to focus on the best things, not just good things this season. And even though ribbons and bows and evergreens are surely in my future (with tips coming soon), they won’t be my takeaway from this time of year. So make a quick list, check it twice and off you go! I know your home will be beautiful and that’s all because of who lives inside it.
Blessings friends!
