Guest Room Inspo.

The bottom line of this room that gives it its cozy feeling are all the layers of color and texture. The layers of books and design choices that go from the floor to the ceiling and make your eye pop around the picture. All of these items are very accessible and quite easy to duplicate.

The throws and stars are carried at Target. Placing two and adding that fur is I think what makes you want to crawl in there and put on old favorite…like The Goonies. That star is also from Target’s “Wondershop” and it might hang out there, even after Christmas. I think sometimes I add these little whimsical elements that make a space fun and not so stuffy. Feels like someone lives there and loves it.

This twin Thorp platform bed by Mistana it such a bargain at Wayfair. My son outgrew the one he had for years and so I purchased a second to make this space. Twinning beds is such a classic look. It also has so much function. We have a trundle under both and can sleep an entire family in this guest space!

The gold and crème cowhide rug is by Nuloom and can be found on Amazon for under $100. The shagginess of the rug makes you want to take off your shoes and place your bare feet on it…which is exactly what our guests will do when they crawl out of bed during their stay. The scones are from Amazon too (Minglaide Black Metal Wall sconce). We are always on a budget and having lights hardwired was not an option. I wanted something modern since everything else felt opposite of that. They are perfect for the space and add function too!

Those two signs above the beds are from a shop local here in the Safety Harbor area called Aerie Lane Home. You can shop in person or online…of course in person is better. I could tour that shop three times and still not catch each gem tucked into their space. It’s fun and beautiful and great place to look for the missing piece. Aerie Lane Home

I collected most of those books for free or practically free by visiting the local library and goodwill. Building your collection of books takes time and tell both your and their own stories. Having so many stacked feels magical and to me, this little design feature is so simple and stunning.

That antique cart I found at a local second hand shop in South Tampa called Marketplace. If there is one thing I can recommend, it would be finding ways to mix it up. And when you spot something you love bring it into your space. I loved this old factory cart as soon as I saw it and only later figured it where it would go and how to style it for the space it would live.

It’s taken me, what feels like, forever to get this space to a spot that it looks done when you take a photo. It’s a room that I walk through almost everyday, even though I don’t have to. I love how it makes me feel. I hope that my guests feel that too. In a word…it feels welcoming. 💛
